NOTE: My favourite band list used to feature Metallica, prominently, like in 2nd place.  For reasons obvious to anyone who has held a newspaper in their hand or read a news release on the web, they're off my list.  For good.   What's up with these overblown, self-important, gits anyway?  Another sad example of has-beens who forgot to go away gracefully when their 15 minutes were up... helloooooo... is alienating your remaining fans supposed to rekindle your bygone popularity?????

CONTENTS
BOOKS &AUTHORS ~~ Reading has been my favourite pastime for as long as I can remember, a love instilled by my mother, an avid reader whose bedtime stories were taken from mythology and history.  This love for reading, and for Mythology and History and Biographies, and the Gods and Goddesses and Heros of ancient times, has never waned.  I added Mysteries when I was about 9 or 10 (someone left a Maigret laying about and got me hooked on the genre), but at about age 12, I discovered Science Fiction ... this has been a consuming passion ever since.

AUTHORS (SF & Mystery):  Isaak Asimov, Harlan Ellison, Tanith Lee, Roger Zelazny, Jack Chalker, Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, Colin Dexter, Georges Simenon, M.C. Beaton, Reginald Hill, Margery Allingham, etc., etc.  Years ago I read everything I could lay my hands on by Gwen Bristow and Edna Ferber but I no longer like "chick novels" or family sagas (sorry, Mom :-).

BOOKS:  Absolute favourite, The Lord of the Rings (and anything Middle Earth related by Tolkien).  I'm also devouring anything on Forensics that I can get my hands on).  When it comes to Mysteries, no-one writes them like the Brits (except for Simenon, of course).  Over time, I managed to collect every book Dame Agatha has ever written.  The pride of my collection is a copy of "Ten Little Indians" under it's orginal (even more un-PC) title.

ALL-TIME FAVOURITE POET:
Friedrich Schiller.    Current favourite read: Anthony Trollope
TV SHOWS ~~ Nothing compares with DR. WHO!!!!!! I've been a fan since about 1980.  I also enjoy(ed) Blake's 7, NeverWhere, The Prisoner, Life on Mars, Torchwood, Moonlight, Rome, NUMB3RS, Forever Knight, Highlander, SeaChange, Stingers, Max Headroom, Stargate SG1, Lovejoy, Babylon 5, Red Dwarf, Alien Nation, Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9), UFO, Ballykissangel, Monarch of the Glen, The Avengers, Captain Scarlet, American Gothic, Wiseguy, TekWar, Aeon Flux, Daria ...
Ben Bass (Forever Knight), looking quite human without fangs or hair extensions ('96 Visions).  My "dumb blonde" experiment was less of a success.
DR. WHO FAVOURITES:

~~ Doctor: Jon Pertwee

~~ Episode:   The Dalek Invasion of Earth

~~ Antagonist:   The Master (Roger Delgado)

~~ Sexiest Doctor: Colin Baker

~~ Companions:  Liz Shaw, Leela, the first Romana, Jamie McCrimmon, Ace
My first tattoo: A blue rose on the wrist (click  pic for my tattoo page)
Mirror Mirror in the Hand... who is
the most awful-first thing-in-the-
morning in the Land? :-)
Tim Thomerson
Clicking on a word appearing green/underlined, or an actor/show picture,
will take you to a relevant web page, usually the Internet Movie Database.
MUSIC ~~ Overall, my taste runs to Classical, Opera, Blues, Baroque, Renaissance, Bagpipes, and Heavy Metal.  If that seems like a strange mix ... well, that's me!
The Young Ones
FLOWERS ~~ Pansies, white Tulips, Chrysanthemums (especially purple ones, and those gorgeous golden brown ones with the deep golden middle).  Other favourites are Daffodils, Gladiolas, Violets, Tea Roses, Anemones,
Forget-me-nots, Buttercups, Daisies, Crocuses, Snowbells, Bluebells (never pick a bluebell, though, you might
destroy the home of a faerie!)
Ian McShane
MYSTERIES: Love them all (the BBC productions), but my favourite is Agatha
Christie's Miss Marple, closely followed by
Inspector Morse, Hamish Macbeth,
Midsomer Murders and Jonathan Creek.

COMEDIES:  Britcoms Rule!  With a special fondness for Last of the Summer
Wine, The Young Ones, The Vicar of Dibley, Dinnerladies, AYBS, Mulberry,
Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, The Thin Blue Line, To The Manor Born, and of
course "Waiting for God" featuring my "alter ego," curmudgeonly Diana Trent.

Alan Rickman

GAMES ~~ Providing I find a willing participant (not an easy task!), I love to play card games, board games and word games (Scrabble, anyone?).  But my favourite is a variation on 'Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon' ... I play it as 'Six Degrees of Dr. Who'.  It's fun with other Who fans, but also easy to play by oneself ... once Dr. Who linked to Star Trek in one step, well, the Doctor was linked -- to everything ... in the "Colonies" and beyond!   Warning: This game is extremely addictive!!!!

So... what about me?  Consummate Dr. Who fan, all-around Anglophile, movie junkie, love history and mythology (Norse in particular, Valkyrie probably gives that away :-), like tattoos, adore cats, don't eat meat, eclectic Pagan, kind of a hermit, some-times accused of being just a bit obsessive-compulsive, don't smoke (huge turn-off!!!), rarely drink except for a glass of wine or an imported Ale now and then.  I speak two languages fluently but might cuss in a few more :-).  Don't mind mice or snakes but shudder at spiders.  Secret passion: writing slashy fan fiction that no-one ever gets to see *g*  But perhaps the best way to find out what makes a person tick is to grill them about their likes and dislikes, so what follows are a few of my favourite things.
PAINTINGS ~~ I must be a hopeless romantic because I love paintings in the French Impressionist style and the Preraphaelites.  Modern "art"??  My little nephew will give you a Jackson Pollock -- right over your wallpaper :-).  I'd much rather rest my eyes on a Renoir or Monet, or a Waterhouse or Blair Leighton.  For sheer excitement (and emotional turmoil that jumps right off the canvas!), try Oscar Kokoschka!

Bride of the Wind (Kokoschka), Starry Night (Van Gogh)

ARTISTS (in alphabetical order):
Blair Leighton, Degas, Gaugin,
Kokoschka, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Toulouse-Latrec, Turner,
