I curse! I curse all those who soils our glorious land with unworthy actions. I curse all those who spill the blood of the innocent in the name of their believes, in the name of their greed, or in blind hatred of anything that is different from themselves. I curse all those who want to silence the voices of others so that their own bellowing may be heard above our voices. I curse all those who, in ugly costumes and shaven heads but also in suits and ties, abuse the wisdom of our ancestors, our ancient ways and our present faith. I curse all those who puts themselves above others because of the colour of their skin, who trample on others because of the colour of their skin, their language, or their faith. I curse all those who take the sacred symbols Gungnir, Mjolnir and Sacred Staffs, Odins spear, Thors hammer and sacred Runes given by Odins hand, and soil them with unholy deeds. Upon the heads of these miscreants I call all powers! I call upon the gnomes and the little people: That they may scratch their bodies and disturb their sleep. I call upon the dark alfs: That they may lay an iron ring around their chests, giving little room for their spirit, little room for breath to speak of evil. I call upon the hoar giants from the depth of Niflehel: That they may freeze them before they get a chance to freeze others out. I call upon Surt and his fire horses: That they may burn them before others burn by their hands. I call upon Loki: That he may twist their vision so that they strike down each other before they strike down anyone else. I call upon Freya: So that these men never may share a woman's bed and never have sons or daughters of their own as long as they want to hinder others to do just that. And I call upon Frey: That they may have their manhood gelded, never being able to create anything good for themselves, never finding peace or harvest as long as they want to hinder others from doing just that. I call upon Thor: That he may protect us from demonic evil and I call upon his wrath against the miscreants who want to cause pain to others. I call upon Odin All-father, He who gave spirit to man and woman, He who together with his brothers Honer and Lodur gave life to man and woman, Ask and Embla. I call upon Odin and the Norns, Goddesses of Destiny, Urd, Verdandi and Skuld, who together judge everyone after death: That they may judge these miscreants, that they do not allow them to escape the consequences of their evil deeds against other sons and daughters of Ask and Embla. I set this Nid until these drooling servants of evil and ignorance do penance and let each and every human being stand by their land, their people and their faith. Adapted from Grimner's Runes
To put a "nid" on someone is a form of verbal curse, a magic ritual that has been considered to be very powerful since ancient times. The power of those words was not taken lightly by our ancient forbearers, so a curse of this kind is something very serious to send, and just as serious to receive. The Saga of Egil Skallagrimsson (an Icelandic/Norwegian story from the 10th century) tells of a dispute between Egil and King Eirik Blodyx ("Bloodaxe"), who treated Egil wrongly and made him an outlaw. The situation escalated into bloody warfare, with many dead on both sides. When Egil had slain a large number of King Eiriks subjects and allies on the island of Herdla (off the shores of Iceland), in anger he places a hazelwood pole on the top of this island, and on the top of the pole he places the cut-off head of a horse, aimed towards Iceland. On the pole he carves sacred runes, with a curse upon King Eirik. He also speaks his curse, this "nid": "Here I place this "nidstang" ("curse-pole"), and turneth it against King Eirik and Queen Gunnhild - turneth I this against all the gnomes and little people of the land, that they may all be lost, not finding their homes, until they drive King Eirik and Queen Gunnhild out of the country." According to the legend, the curse soon had it's effect, and King Eirik and Queen Gunnhild fled to the British Isles.

A Nidstang Against Our Enemies
The following Nid is adapted from a chain of digital "Nidstangs" found on websites around Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway and Denmark); there, it is turned against everyone who misuses and abuses our ancient sacred symbols, and soils the land with hatred and discord, against those and who spill the blood of our brothers and sisters (they know who they are). It is very important to understand that the following curse is not unconditional, that it is only meant to affect those who persist in their destructive behaviour. Tolerance and forgiveness are important principles of my believes. No innocents shall be suffering from this curse. It is turned against those who murder and create pain and confusion, their sole reason reason being the destruction of decent, innocent people in the name of their religious beliefs, in a horrible perversion of their own sacred writings. In other words, the kind of people that made 11 September 2001 one of the darkest days in the history of this great country. It is also turned against those of our who pervert yhr sacred symbols of our ancestors to sow hatred against people different from us, be it in the colour of their skin, the land of their birth, or their religious believes.
